Auto Collision & Personal Injury Care
According to the Insurance Research Council, nearly 1/3 of all claimants injured in motor vehicle accidents (MVC’s) seek treatment from a Doctor of Chiropractic. This is an impressive number given that the National Safety Council (NSC) has determined there to be more than 12 million MVC’s annually involving more than 20 million vehicles and over 36 million Americans.
Many studies have also found individuals injured in MVC’s prefer chiropractic care for the treatment of their injuries. The reason individuals people choose chiropractic for treatment of injuries sustained in MVC’s is simple – chiropractic care is exceptional in the treatment of soft tissue injuries, especially of the spine and extremities and is considered the most beneficial for full recovery. Since most common injuries associated with MVC’s are sprains and strains of the muscles, tendons and ligaments, it’s only natural that chiropractic would be the treatment of choice.
One such study evaluated 190 whiplash injury victims and found those who received chiropractic care reported treatment satisfaction of 98%.
Prior to the first appointment
We have our patients download and fill out the initial intake form. This saves time during the appointment. If the patient doesn’t have representation, we will make recommendations. If they already have a lawyer will provide the appropriate paperwork to have their signature on the lien.
Dr. Jon Petrick and his team have provided expert witness testimony and medical services in the personal injury space for more than two decades. Their understanding of the intricacies of an automobile collision and the critical in relationship between proper diagnostics, medical and chiropractic care and is essential to ensure the proper settlement is realized in every case.
Our “Integrated” team of providers using proper diagnostic, medical, and chiropractic care understand the mechanics and physics of automobile collisions. We co-manage our patients with outside professionals and communicate rigorously to leave no stone unturned.
Every collision is different…Every patient’s reaction to that collision is different and it is imperative that the case is managed properly right from the start.
Why we are different…. Knowing the business of personal injury care.
Accurate Diagnostics is the key to determining the outcome from a collision. We have a preferred order of procedures to establish pain modulators. Depending on the evaluation, we use a combination of MRI, X-Ray, & Diagnostic Ultrasound to help pinpoint the pain sources.
- Anterior to Posterior
- A-P open mouth for Alar ligament interruption
- Lateral Views
- Look for slippage of the disc above upon the disc below.
- Flexion & Extension
- Cervical – Lumbar
- Check for disruptions or malposition is an indication of loss of integrity
- Check for indications of an unstable spine
- Oblique (Radiculopathy)
- Check for nerve root encroachment, disc herniation, and/or traumatic pathology
- Check for an inflammatory response to nerve root or disc
- Upper Cervical
We communicate with the MRI technician to ensure the proper positioning of the patient. We order thinner “slices” for a clearer view of the injured areas; this is usually not performed in most practices and why they sometimes miss the ligaments that create the conditions for an unstable spine.
